Qt 5.15 LTS support period extended to 5 years


Product article | | open source China TravisQt Company recently announced that they would prolong Qt 5.15 LTS long-term support version support fixed number of year, namely in 2023 of the original plan to extend for two years, on the basis of 2025 years.Qt 5.15 LTS will be released in May 2020. According to Qt’s original plan and tradition (regular Qt versions are supported for one year and LTS versions are supported for three years under the standards),Qt 5.15 LTS support will end in May 2023, but since many people still rely on Qt 5 and have not yet migrated to Qt 6, the company has decided to extend the Qt 5.15 support period.The Qt 5.15 LTS support period will be extended to May 2025, bringing the total support period to five years.Under the new plan, Qt will release at least two patches per year, which typically include quality updates, critical bug fixes, support for operating system version updates, and possible security fixes.However, this additional 2-year support is not available to all users and is limited to those who subscribe to the Qt Subscription License.Extended support is a service that extends the standard support period for EoS releases.Extended support allows customers to issue issues and get patches for Qt versions and environments that are no longer supported under standard support.Qt 5.14 and earlier versions, including Qt 5.12 LTS and Qt 6.0, are no longer supported by the EoS (End of Support) standard.Qt 6.1 will be released on May 6, 2021, with a one-year support cycle, meaning Qt 6.1 will enter the EoS phase in May of this year.
